Which code serves your intention?
Ofcom’s Text to Switch guidance distinguishes keeping the number from switching without it. Text PAC to 65075 to request a number-retention code; STAC to 75075 is the route when not keeping the number. INFO to 85075 provides contract-status information. Multi-number accounts may need an online or telephone request. Give a transfer code only to the legitimate receiving provider, not an unsolicited caller.
What makes the transfer happen?
Requesting a code does not itself move the line. The code is valid for 30 days and must be supplied to the new provider. Ofcom says the receiving provider must complete the switch within one working day under the process. Check the arranged date and instructions, especially around non-working days. Keep access to the existing line until the sequence is understood.
What should be settled separately?
Check any handset obligation, additional subscription, household benefit and other numbers. A transferred line does not mean all associated products have ended. Avoid initiating a move immediately before an event where losing access to authentication texts would be disruptive. Preserve the contract summary and written exit information, and retain enough account access to read the final statement.
How do you know it worked?
Test the intended number with an incoming call and ordinary SMS from another phone. Then check outgoing identity and mobile data. An application can keep its own old number registration even after the network transfer, so diagnose that separately. If there is a delay or service failure, contact the receiving provider with the reference and exact symptom. Keep the closing statement for reconciliation.
